rs-forever's Diaryland Diary

Sun set

On Saturday, Ryan and I went to Halibut State Park in Rockport Ma. It is in Rockport, a very rich town of Massachusetts. It took us close to an hour getting there. We parked, got a parking ticket using a credit card, I don't think the machine could accept cash.

It was a windy day, adding to the chill in the air. We went down a winding trail through the woods, paved with a tessellation of fall leaves. A friendly woman and her dog, were walking out of the reservation. I don't know if it was just me, or if the dog, a yellow Labrador, smiled as he came running to greet Ryan. We reached a sign that gave us directions to an old stone quarry. We took that path, and before us lay a huge quarry with still, perfectly reflecting water. And just beyond the quarry lay the great Atlantic Ocean.

We walked all the way around the Quarry, then went down a steep road that lead us to the rocks lining the beach. As we got closer to the water, the rocks got more slippery, had more snails and barnacles on them. Barnacles remind us both of Tintin.

We went back up, higher and higher, until we reached a viewing point, from which we could see a panoramic view of the ocean, with sea gulls flying across a clear, blue sky. We waited on a little ledge, facing set, waiting to watch the sun set.
